Legacy & History
Preserve, document, and share the history, experiences, and stories of 1/9.
Memories fade. Photographs disappear. Documents are lost. Veterans pass away. Stories everyone once knew can vanish within a generation.
Preserve the whole person
We collect, preserve, organize, and share oral histories, photographs, documents, articles, artifacts, and personal stories.
Our Historical Preservation Committee safeguards the legacy of the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines so future generations of Marines, their families, and supporters understand the sacrifices, courage, and camaraderie that shaped the battalion.
A dedicated history website, with interactive timelines, veteran stories, photo galleries, and an archive, is in development.
